Providing mentees with guidance
For those looking for more individualized attention, One-on-One Mentoring Sessions provide mentees with guidance specific to their faith journey. During these sessions, the mentee will be assigned an experienced SHIFT mentor, who will give them a safe space to share their reflections and challenges that they may be facing. In addition, the mentor will support their mentee and help them find answers to questions that may arise within their ministries or personal lives.
Overview of SHIFT One-on-One Mentoring Sessions
One-on-one mentoring sessions are a great way to journey through your ministerial and personal reflections. Each month, you'll be paired with the same mentor and have the opportunity to discuss any challenges or successes you have encountered. These sessions create a safe and supportive space, allowing you to talk openly and honestly with your mentor about any topics meaningful to your journey. Your mentor will provide insight, guidance, and resources that you may find helpful without ever feeling like you are being judged or pressured.
How One-on-One Mentoring Sessions Work
The journey starts with the second week of our program, when you'll be assigned your SHIFT mentor. We take pride in matching you with the perfect mentor for your journey. After that, you'll meet with your mentor at least once a month for an hour-long session. We recommend setting up a standing appointment with your mentor so that you can make it a regular part of your schedule.
During these sessions, you can discuss any reflections or case studies you'd like to discuss. The mentor will also provide tacit knowledge and informal learning tools to help guide you through your journey. At the end of each session, you and your mentor will review the progress made during the session and any actionable steps needed for continued growth.
What to Expect During a Session
Through one-on-one mentoring sessions, you will understand how to think critically and practically, enabling you to apply the knowledge and experiences in your context. Your mentor is there to listen, support, and challenge you, helping you learn and grow in your own time. Whether personal reflections or case studies, these individual/one-on-one sessions provide a place to ask questions, brainstorm solutions, and gain perspective.
Remember that these sessions are not intended to provide counseling or therapy services. However, these mentoring sessions are designed to help you find relief and inspiration from your mentor's guidance and resources. With that in mind, your mentor will provide a non-judgemental space to help you on your journey.
With a dedicated mentor by your side, the one-on-one mentoring sessions will help foster growth and development in your ministerial and personal journey. So take the opportunity and explore what mentoring can do for you today.
